I have a macbook pro with quicktime player and have downloaded several .mkv files but cannot get them to run in quicktime. All it says is: Quote: The document FMA_B_38.mkv could not be opened. I recently noticed, on both my Macs (iMac 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo running 10.5.8, MBP 2.2 GHz Core 2 Duo running 10.6.2), that High Profile 1080p H.264 playback isn't very smooth (using Perian 1.2, QuickTime Player 7).
